West Michigan Works! has relocated its Holland service center to a more central location.

It is now located at The Shops at Westshore, at 12331 James St., suite 130. The 14,903-square-foot space will continue to offer services to job seekers and employers throughout Ottawa County from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The previous office at 121 Clover St, where West Michigan Works! operated since 2005, closed June 24.

“The location provides great visibility for the service center,” says Angie Barksdale, West Michigan Works! chief operating officer. “We’re also very excited about the proximity to key partners Grand Rapids Community College and the Department of Health and Human Services.”

In August 2021, Grand Rapids Community College opened its GRCC Lakeshore Campus within The Shops at Westshore.

The Area Community Services Employment and Training Council (ACSET) worked with The Shops at Westshore’s owner and developer, Versa Development, to build the suite to meet the workforce agency’s needs. DA Contracting was the general contractor. Additional services were provided by ACSET, Westshore Mall Investors, Kentwood Office Furniture and other local vendors.

West Michigan Works! service centers offer job seekers in-person and online career services and skill development workshops. In-person job seeker services range from computer and internet access to cover letter and resume workshops to assessments and career counseling.

West Michigan Works! is part of the statewide Michigan Works! system, serving the employers and job seekers of Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon and Ottawa counties.
