The event is presented by Paws in the City and Mapleview Animal Hospital.

Dogs, dog owners, and dog lovers alike are all invited to visit Windmill Island Gardens from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to enjoy the beautiful summer scenery and learn about all the best places in town to bring your pup.

Local animal hospitals, groomers, trainers, accessory crafters, treat bakeries, and more will have booths set up in the park. A food truck will be available during the event for those who want to grab some lunch, and the Holland Police Department’s Polar Patrol ice cream truck will be there from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with free ice cream for visitors.

Family-friendly event

Bark in the Park will be family-friendly, featuring balloon animals, caricatures, games, crafts, giveaways, and a visit from the famous Oscar Mayer Frankmobile. All park attractions will be open during the event, including the de Zwaan windmill, carousel, street organ, and gift shop. Although dogs can’t enter the windmill or the gift shop, and must remain on leashes for the duration of the event.

“Paws in the City is delighted to help sponsor Holland’s first Bark in the Park event!” says Tracy VanOpstall, owner of Paws in the City, a Holland dog day care that also offers grooming and training services. “We can think of no better reason for a big party than dog lovers getting together to celebrate National Dog Day. We are looking forward to a fun-filled day of talking with dog owners and meeting new dog friends.”

VanOpstall’s booth will feature free ornament painting, $5 nail trims, a photo booth, treats, and a raffle.
