Habitat, GDK, future homeowners celebrate first housing development for adults with disabilities

Those with disabilities are at even more of a disadvantage in the housing market than most. Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity celebrated its first development for single adults with disabilities Wednesday with a ribbon cutting that included GDK Construction and four of the soon-to-be homeowners.

The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation (GHACF) recently awarded more than $660,000 to 220 area students. The money comes from 130 scholarship funds, set up by families, organizations and businesses to make a lasting impact.

Music Unites Us concert to feature diverse musicians and Holland Symphony Orchestra

The Music Unites Us concert will bring together local musical talent and the Holland Symphony Orchestra in a groundbreaking celebration of diversity at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, in Holland’s Kollen Park. The concert is free.   

Volunteers who download the app can sign up for flexible shifts, driving their own vehicles to recover food from donors and transporting it to local food access partners.
