$600,000 in direct cash assistance gives families flexibility in navigating pandemic

The Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area and other generous local donors created a funding pool of $600,000 for Movement West Michigan’s direct cash assistance initiative. The program provided emergency relief of $500 to more than 1,000 individuals and families, trusting them to make the best use of the funds.

Foundation invests in community through stabilization fund grants

The Community Foundation of the Greater Holland/Zeeland Area has raised $1 million in a fund to invest in meeting needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Grants totaling $520,000 have been awarded to local agencies that serve vulnerable populations.

Holland residents Henry and Lindsay Cherry have been involved in advocacy for the Black community for longer than they have been married. In June, they helped organize a peace March and almost 4,000 people lined Unity Bridge. Their new nonprofit hopes to show Black youth their true potential.
