Three women with a shared experience reconnect through Women of Color Give

Kim Koeman, Robyn Afrik, and Rebekah Bakker — all Korean women adopted by white Holland families — graduated from the same high school. Their involvement in Women of Color Give provided a catalyst for reconnecting as adults, but their shared experience expanded their friendship beyond the organization.

CFHZ Board of Trustees elects new members, new slate of officers

The Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area Board of Trustees elected three new members at its recent annual meeting. Scott Brooks and Erin Zylman will serve on CFHZ committees, and Lydia Steeby is the board’s youth trustee. The board also held officer elections during the meeting.

Muskegon Lakeshore Paddle Club forms to host events benefiting local charities

The new nonprofit is hosting its inaugural race series this year. The June 12 and Aug. 28 events will be held on Mona Lake at Ross Park and will benefit the Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan.

For 20 years, The Lemonade Stand has provided a home, family, and support to those struggling with mental health and/or addiction issues in Muskegon. Like many nonprofit mental health programs across the country, The Stand continues to grapple with too little funding, especially since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
