New faces join CFHZ board

Some new faces are joining the Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area. They will play a key role in helping the foundations distribute funds to nonprofits.

The CFHZ board of trustees recently elected three new members:

Ed Amaya is the president/owner of Kenowa Industries and is an active volunteer and
supporter of many community organizations. He is a member of the board of directors of Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital and Vanderbilt Charter Academy.
Ed, his wife Tina, and their family live in Holland.

Jasmine Irish is a community volunteer who has been actively involved with various local nonprofits. Jasmine holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from the University of Notre Dame. She is a member of the board of directors of Resilience, as well as three committees at  Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital. Jasmine and her husband, Patrick, have three young children and live in Holland.

Kolin Van Fossan is a senior at West Ottawa High School and serves on the board as a youth trustee. He has been a member of the Youth Advisory Committee since 2020 and will serve as chair of that committee for the 2022–2023 school year. The Youth Advisory Committee is a group of students from area high schools who are responsible for reviewing funding requests and recommending grants for programs that benefit the community’s youths.

In addition, a new slate of officers was elected during the board’s annual meeting. Diane Kooiker will serve as board chair. She succeeds Deborah Sterken, who will become past chair. Tom Den Herder will serve as chair-elect, Scott Brooks will serve as secretary, and Erin Zylman will serve as treasurer.
