April things to do: Egg hunts, Earth Day events, spring break activities, concerts, and fundraisers

Art exhibits, musical shows, theater, and spring break activities are on tap for April. Easter and Earth Day events abound, as do movies, crafts, theater, concerts, and fundraisers.

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
The Easter Egg Hunt in Grand Haven is just one of several taking place along the Lakeshore on Saturday, April 4. Hunts and other fun activities also are planned in Holland and Spring Lake.

I’m so grateful for our libraries. We hardly give them the credit they’re due. The activities they have lined up for April are numerous and varied — and we couldn’t list them all. I mean, a discussion on generational differences and another on the Fall of the Romanovs, a live Oregon Trail activity, musical guests, hatching chicks, a fashion show, and an entire week devoted to “Star Wars.”

There also are STEM activities and a creation story craft that involves a turtle. Quirky. Windmill Island will show you how to build a bee hotel to shore up those important pollinators. MMA has several fascinating art exhibits on display. There are fundraisers, including a chili cook-off, as well as a model railroad expo and a comics and toy fair.

And let’s not forget the usual suspects — theater, music (classical, country, K-Pop), movies, and more. I’m confident you’ll find something that strikes your fancy. April offers a wide variety of things to do in Allegan, Muskegon, and Ottawa counties. This list includes options for everyone, regardless of age, ability, or interest.
